WHY ARE WE HERE?
As sort of a part two of Proof God Exists. Instead of adding more to it, I decided to make a new entry.
You must read the prior blog entry, Proof God exists, because that is the mindset I am in while writing this.
It is simple why we are here. God never gave us anything that is too difficult for us to understand. I believe there are two major reasons why we exist.
- To experience God’s majesty.
- For an opportunity at everlasting life in paradise.
Now for the first one, if you are even fairly familiar with the Bible. You will notice how it goes on and on endlessly about the beauty in creation. The book of Job comes to mind immediately. Where God himself just can’t stop talking about how awesome his creations are and we should be so lucky to even witness it… So suck it up.
Just try to imagine a man who is ready to give up on life because he is suffering so badly. He’s lost everything. His entire family. All his money. All his vast estate is being attacked, burned down and his servants killed. And he is in constant debilitating pain to top it off. He cries out, only for his remaining friends to tell him to kill himself and curse God because Job must have done something wrong. Job is steadfast that he is blameless and then cries out to God…
and God literally replies by telling Job to grow a set and stop whining:
God then basically goes on a 700 bar battle rap response where he reminds Job who his daddy is. Quite a fascinating tale when you put things in perspective. Whether you believe this story is pure parable, or an actual historical account, I believe it’s a very important story. It is important in understanding how much we take just being alive for granted. We get to experience some amazing things. We get to experience things that the very angels in the Bible were jealous of. Life itself is a gift that we are very quick to overlook when things don’t go our way.
There are people out there with NOTHING. Literally paraplegics that depend on someone for each and every breath… they still find a way to appreciate creation and being alive!
Did Job have an honest gripe? Sure. Saying he was uncomfortable is an understatement. I couldn’t imagine how much more pissed Job would have been if he knew all these terrible things were being deliberately done to him because of a bet lol. I do not think God was trying to say Job’s complaints were insignificant. I think God is really standing on his business that He made us and we should be a bit more grateful even when we THINK that we are having just the worst life ever. Not to say our worries aren’t valid. What I’m saying is- no matter how bad things seem, life is STILL a gift.
Ultimately, we are supposed to be here waiting for our real reward in the afterlife, no? So why SHOULD God be so worried about our day-to-day aches, pains, wars, deaths, or really anything we complain about? They affect us dearly and harshly. Our pain affects our mental health. It hurts. It sucks.
It hurts bad to lose loved ones. It is AWFUL being poor, especially in the western world.
But do you care about the big picture? Listen, the vast majority of our pain is caused by US, Not God, in the first place. God gave us a specific set of rules to follow and pretty much promised us that life will also be difficult along the way. God gave us everything we need to thrive and be happy for free. Water literally falls out of the sky. Food grows from the trees. Air is all around. What do we do? We ignore his rules, make things infinitely harder for ourselves and then blame God for life sucking.
Life is hard. But it should only really be as hard as we are willing to work to farm the land and hunt for food and deal with cold winters and sicknesses here and there. Maybe a disagreement now and then at most.
But that’s not what happened is it? We humans needed to construct a massive system of pretend wealth that requires non-stop violence and chaos all over the world in the pursuit of this cartoonish avarice. And we are all pretty much complicit in it.
And all the while we are killing each other for various made up reasons- Angels in heaven look down at us with envy. They want to also feel love, lust, endorphins, and maybe even a little rage. Feeling the cool night winds and a warm rain in the summer. They want to experience how it feels to cool off in the water when it’s hot. They want to feel a warm person in their arms.
Things we take for granted every single day. Because we choose to further separate ourselves from God. We’d rather be in awe of whatever celebrity is popular at the moment. We worship billionaires. We only listen to the rich and we crap all over the poor, even when we are also poor.
That’s how amazing God is! He created us so wonderfully, so perfectly that we have convinced ourselves confidently that we don’t even need God. No God required! Only the joyless “pursuit of happiness”, which translates to money. In fact, People have come up with very convincing arguments that somehow there was once NOTHING, and from this NOTHING came everything we know of. I guess magically? Just kinda popped into existence, I guess, for no reason? Yep. There’s nothing, doing it’s thing and then all of a sudden boom… or bang? God? What for? What do we need God for?
Let’s switch gears. Look up at a star. What you are actually seeing is the light from that star as it was MILLIONS of years ago. At least according to our science books. You can look up and you are seeing millions of years into the past. These are merely the decorations that God gave us to simply ENJOY! His majesty, his awesome creation.
What did we humans do? In a hurry, we depleted God’s resources and polluted the sky nearly beyond repair. So now we can barely see the stars thru the light pollution and actual pollution. But we gotta make money right? That means we need the night sky flooded with artificial lights for our endless chain of commerce. People are tired, miserable, working graveyard shifts just to pay bills for services that God gave us for free. It’s kinda laughable.
