If you could afford me a bit of your time to explain why I used this clearly click bait title. I’ll explain why it’s exactly the point.

There’s nothing that I could publish in a science journal that would sufficiently serve as ‘proof’ in that sense, that there is a God/Creator/Higher Power or however you choose to address it.

In fact, I don’t there’s anything possible that will convince a hardcore skeptic that God exists. If the sky turned green and a loud booming voice spoke directly to a skeptic and introduced itself as “God”. I’d be inclined to think that person might first question his own sanity or assume he’s being “punked”.

God could appear as a human, come down to Earth and perform all kinds of miracles that would fill volumes of books and there still would be massive debates on his authenticity. In fact, read the New Testament of the bible. Because that’s kind of exactly what happened. Even people who were alive, present and witnessing the miracles would vehemently dismiss it.

So I’m not going to try and convince you. Do I sound crazy writing this piece? Perhaps. What I will do is tell you why I believe. I have a saying. I’m not here to convince or convert, I am here to convey. That is my job as a Christian. I’m just here to spread the word, convey the message. It’s your job to convict. That is the only job of a Christian, we are not tasked with shoving our faith down anyone’s throat.

First let’s deal with atheism. There are levels, I totally understand, that atheists don’t fit some common mold. I’m speaking almost exclusively about what I call “Neo Atheists”. These are the guys that write books, hold seminars, conferences, conventions, do interviews and debates and create videos about the thing that they do not believe in. They claim that they do it because religion is ‘dangerous’ and causes wars, among some reasons. I am more inclined to believe that they do it because it sells books and lines their pockets. I can’t speak for every religion but Christianity is about forgiveness, turning the other cheek, loving thy neighbor, does that sound familiar? It’s not Christianity that causes strife and pain, that would be man’s decisions.

How absurd would it be if I wrote a book about how I do not believe in Santa Claus and I then defend my position by stating that it damages a child’s impressionable mind and they [the govt] shouldn’t create laws that honor Christmas? You’d likely dismiss my nonsense and ignore me. Well, Christians aren’t afforded that luxury. When someone doesn’t believe in Santa, they don’t go on book tours and attend paid appearances to teach the world about it. However they claim that Christianity is a similar “fairy-tale” about talking snakes and a man living in the sky. Imagine that? A fairy tale that you spend an entire career profiting from?

Ask yourself a question. Why? Why is there so much material attacking Christianity? Can you think of another religion that draws so much scrutiny? No one dares attack Judaism, for fear of being called anti-Semite. No one dares attack Islam for fear of violence. It’s only Christianity that takes the arrows. Perhaps books exist attacking various religions, but there’s no TV shows, movies, talk shows, books, magazines, websites, and famous physicists doing speaking engagements. Why, if Christianity is just a myth, does it get treated so differently than the other 4000 or so religions?

And Neo Atheists love to bring up how many religions exist. That bringing it up somehow proves a point. That there are 4000-5000 religions of sorts all over the world. They love to say how they only believe in one less religion than you. They say why is one god better than the others? Why do you believe in the Christian God as opposed to the other Gods? I say this isn’t hard to narrow down at all. I can get rid of thousands of religions by using a simple 5 step process.

• How many people consider themselves a part of said religion?

Sure, sure, the amount of people that believe in something doesn’t prove a thing. I get it. But it’s a key indicator that IF something is authentic, then it’s popularity should be pretty high. If only a small tribal group on some island follow it, then I gotta say it’s probably not for me. It should have found it’s way around the world after thousands of years, no?

• Does this religion involve the worship of something that is a part of creation?

Simply put, does the religion worship an eagle headed lion? Or an elephant…with several arms? Or a turtle? Maybe a cat or cow? Or…The Sun? I have no issues dismissing that religion, because these things can’t create themselves. I want to go to the source.

• Does it come from a single source?

There is a very popular religion that for all intents and purposes, is simply the word of a single man that had a vision in a cave. I have nothing against people of that faith, but the word of a single man is just not enough to convince me of the time of day, none the less where my soul goes when I die. In fact, there are offshoots of Christianity that involve a single man, who was granted a vision and for no other reasons other than that, require your devotion. I’ll kindly pass.

Christianity on the other hand, lists thousands of witnesses for the events which are written in the Bible. Nothing in the bible, that we are expected to base our faith on comes without witnesses and/or the fulfilling of a prophecy. In fact, the bible says over and over again to seek knowledge for yourself, study, or be cast out for lack of knowledge. In other words, nowhere does Christianity call for you to blindly believe. I would not be a Christian if the Bible forced me into submission by blind faith …or the word of a man.

• Does it survive the test of time and scrutiny?

Can you name another text that has been torn apart, scrutinized, debated, rallied against, protested as much as Christianity and survived without being outed as a complete farce? Of course, people claimed to have “debunked” the Bible or claim without any proof, that Jesus is a copycat story based on ancient deities… until many years ago, a guy called “king David” created a website that tore apart every single so called “God” that Jesus was supposedly copied from. Its unfortunate, that website is long dead, as it was so simple and concise. But there’s tons of others that tackle this task. (Try the wayback machine for old dead links)  I have even read a web-based database with its purpose being to expose “contradictions” in the bible… until a counter database was contrived to debate each and every alleged error. The rabbit hole kind just goes on an on…

bottom line is the argument goes on WITHOUT disproving the events of the bible.

Nobody spends as much time attacking any other religion. That gives me pause… Why so many attacks on something that is supposedly just a myth… a fairy tale?

• What does being a part of this religion offer you?

What’s the catch? What’s in it for me?

Well, that’s easy. I get to choose my destiny. The Bible doesn’t force you to do anything.  If I believe, I get the gift of eternal life. This is repeated over and over. If don’t believe and refuse to follow the faith, then I die when it’s my time to pass. Contrary to the words of even many prominent Christian leaders– who may not mean any harm… the bible does not teach that nonbelievers or even those who openly choose a life of evil and sin will be tortured in some burning inferno for eternity. First of all, that doesn’t even make logical sense. You can’t experience pain and torture unless… you are alive!  Rest assured, God didn’t create us only to torture us if we refuse to do his bidding. In fact, I gotta say that the very idea is stupid. It only creates more questions and God is not complicated.

There’s actually hundreds of sources that flat out debunk the hellfire preaching that some churches have abused to scare their flock into the pews and into their wallets.

So the major point to consider is, if you are a non-believer, who doesn’t believe in heaven or hell or even an afterlife of any kind… well, you will get exactly what you expect when you die. You’ll be dead.

So what’s in it for me? If I believe and my faith proves true, I will get the gift of eternal life in paradise, most likely on a new form of Earth. If there’s a chance I’m wrong, I will also die. I’ll never know if I was wrong. But at the same time, I also lived my life at least trying to do what’s right by my fellow man in the love that Jesus taught. And maybe changed a few others along the way. So now, whose world view needs further examination?

In Conclusion: What IS God?

Finally, I’d like to wrap this up by concluding exactly what I believe in and I may lose a few of you that got this far. But consider that I was not born into a religious household. My mother nor father attended any church or claimed any faith. We lived in the hood. Survival was pretty much our faith. My Christian faith comes from revelations and curiosity and literally studying my curiosity for many years. For context, I wrote a 4ish page essay about God in elementary school…for fun. Oddly enough, I still had pretty much the same concept of God then, there was just a lack of “Jesus and Christianity”. There was once a time I didn’t even believe that Jesus was a real man who walked the Earth. I thought it all to be myths and nonsense. So honestly, a single blog isn’t going to reasonably convince anyone of anything. It took me decades!

I believe in what many call a deistic God.

Meaning, I believe that God is surely omnipresent, omnipotent and omniscient, not because he’s ‘magic’ or ‘supernatural’. Nor does the bible necessarily teach these things either. While it may allude to God being all knowing and such…that’s not what I’m getting at. There’s nothing magical about the concept of God at all in my view.

God is everywhere and knows everything because he IS everything. God isn’t intelligent or loving, his IS intelligence and he IS love. He’s also fear and hate. But maybe love is more pleasant and a stronger wavelength. Perhaps Love is the overpowering force? Of course, this is all purely philosophical. Feelings of love and hate could all be relative to being purely human. It’s very possible he has no use for either term. Life means everything to us, it may not mean the same thing to him. We are just a tiny, nearly insignificant part of the endless configuration of God. Everything we know came directly from God, thus everything is a part of God. Everywhere you look, is his presence.

Think of it this way. Mainstream science accepts with certainty, Einstein’s theory of relativity. (E=Mc2.) Energy equals mass. Energy literally IS everything and energy cannot be created or destroyed. So if science accepts that energy cannot be created then we have to conclude that it was always here. There was never nothing. I’ll do you one better. There wasn’t always just something. There was always everything and that everything is God. Every possible thing needed for all of creation, all throughout the universe (or universes) has always existed right inside of God.

Everything comes from energy. Our minds, thoughts, our very being. We appear to ourselves and each other as solid, but take time to examine an Atom. It’s virtually nothing. We are literally the manifestation of an all powerful creator! Think about this, think about what your life is. Think about just what might happen to the energy that was assigned to your body when you pass away. Science tells us that this energy not only doesn’t die, but CANNOT die.

Do you think your brain is what makes you- you? Then ask yourself, how can you see, hear, smell and experience things without your body while you sleep? How can we see without eyes? Hear without ears? Ever had a dream? Now imagine the things we could experience once our human limitations are gone. (You can’t) Do you know that what we consider visible light is only 0.0035 percent of the entire light spectrum? Do you realize that color equals light- according to science? Did you instantly think of the Sun when you first heard “let there be light”? We cannot even begin to dream of what awaits us in the afterlife.

Our body is just a series of molecules vibrating on different wavelengths. Now what is vibration? That’s right, it creates a sound frequency! So what now is God’s word? Sound!

God created the universe within himself using his WORD. In the beginning there was the WORD!

I understand that won’t convince a hard skeptic, but feel free to tell me this isn’t plausible. Let’s chat, respectfully.
